Harmonica Workshop

Dave Witzany and Doug SchroerIt’s easy to begin to learn to play harmonica! Let Dave Witzany (left) and Doug Schroer (right) introduce you to the fundamentals of playing this fun and inexpensive instrument. The first 10 participants will receive a complimentary key of C harmonica. Additional harmonicas will be available to purchase for $3.99.

Dave has been a fan of local music since he came to the U of I in the early 80′s and has a long involvement with WEFT community radio. Mainly an audience member, he’s occasionally played harmonica (sat in) with local bands like the Prairie Jam Band and the Prairie Dogs.

Doug is presently a member of two local bands: The Martini Brothers and the Urbana Backyard Barbeque Band. He has played rock, blues, jazz, country, Americana, and bluegrass harmonica as a member of other bands over the years. Doug has often been invited to sit in and play with other local bands, playing a wide variety of types of harmonica music. He has taught harmonica as part of Blues in the Schools offered by the Prairie Crossroads Blues Society. Doug is one of the Community Center for the Arts faculty, where he has taught beginner harmonica lessons and facilitated the U-CHUG harmonica club.
