Do you play the fiddle? Or would like to? Is that Cajun song that you heard at the dance something you’d love to play it too? At Gina Forsyth’s workshop, she will play Cajun tunes from various styles of fiddling from classic Cajun tunes to old traditional pieces. She will also demonstrate various methods of “seconding,” (fiddling to back up a band or singer). She’ll offer particular focus on a standard Cajun waltz and two-step.
For the last three years, Gina has taught beginning Cajun fiddle at Dewey Balfa Cajun and Creole Heritage Week (also known as “Balfa Camp”). It is her plan to offer this workshop as an overview for any and every level, from beginner to advanced.
