
Lehra Lehra is the duo of Lucia Thomas and Nathan Torrence, who proudly present Sindhi and Bengali music and culture. Lucia is a violinist and multi-instrumentalist in many genres of traditional and classical musics. She has traveled to West Bengal, India, to document the folk music of the Baul and Fakir, and studies Hindustani classical violin under the guidance of her guru, Maestro Indradeep Ghosh. Lucia plays with the band Ochin Pakhi, devoted to traditional music of West Bengal, India, and has released three albums: Praner Alap: Meeting of Hearts, Baba Yaga’s Stew, and The World in Chicago. She is the string conductor of Ravinia’s El Sistema Middle School Orchestra. Nathan is a multi-instrumentalist specializing in wind instruments and percussion of North Africa and South Asia. He has taken special interest in the alghoza, a double-recorder flute from Sindh, Pakistan. After many years of alghoza study on his own and with the masters, Nathan began performing for the Sindhi community across the USA and abroad. He also documented the music of various folk musicians in Pakistan which appear on his YouTube channel, @americanalghoza.
