Old Time Players

Old Time PlayersDuo Christine and Paul Breen make up the Old Time Players . Christine  plays the old time five-string banjo and has been playing clawhammer style for several years. She is quite accomplished in the old time mountain style of banjo back-up, playing reels, hornpipes, and – more important – the lost art of rags and waltzes which incorporate the old time 2-finger picking of the late 19th century. She is resourceful, energetic and soulful in her banjo renderings – a real asset to any musical group.

Paul plays old Ttme traditional style back-up six-string guitar, a playing style that has been in vogue since the introduction of the instrument for string bands and early ragtime of the late 19th century, which in this day and age is a specialized art form. Paul has a wide and well-rounded understanding of these old tunes. He has spent countless hours gaining the necessary ability and insight required to play this traditional old time music as it was intended.
