Homer Soda Festival

Homer Soda Festival 2015The CU Folk and Roots Festival is delighted to be coordinating the musical portion of the Homer Soda Festival.  While you taste the unique sodas and meet many of the actual bottlers, listen to some mighty fine Americana bluegrass and roots music! The festival is free and takes place in downtown Homer (118 South Main Street, Homer, IL 61849) on Saturday, May 30, 2015.

Here’s the lineup:

10:00 – 11:00 – John Coppess & the Cowboy Band
John Coppess & the Cowboy Band brings great authentic style and sound to the stage.

11:30 – 12:30 – Wildwood
Wildwood is a string band with influences from bluegrass as well as contemporary artists.

1:00 – 2:00 – Ed Clem & Philo Country Music Show
Traditional Country music, played by our local legends.

2:30 – 3:30 – The Fights
Alternative country music.

4:00 – 5:00 – Little Miss Ann, Brought to you by The Krannert Center for the Performing Arts & the Kirby Family
Little Miss Ann plays music for kids of all ages. She performs a mix of folk-rock music, both traditional songs and new ones, filled with rich vocals and a beautiful mix of simple instrumentation. Little Miss Ann engages the audience to participate with the music by singing, clapping, dancing and having fun. A veteran instructor at the Chicago’s historic Old Town School of Folk Music, Ann Torralba has released several albums of family music over the past few years, each CD better than the last. Her latest, Follow Me, continues her string of thoughtful, joyful collections of tunes for music-loving families.

5:30 – 6:30 – Rebecca Rego & the Trainmen
Midwestern ideals, small town luxuries, and family make up the DNA of Tolono and Rebecca Rego & The Trainmen

7:00 – 8:00 – Prairie Dogs
The Prairie Dogs combine their love for bluegrass, traditional country, cowboy songs, train songs and an occasional jazz tune to offer a entertaining and very fun program of music.  Regulars on the Champaign-Urbana music scene, the Prairie Dogs can show off their skilled musical chops and tight vocal harmonies and keep the crowd entertained with some homegrown humor as well. They’ll have you clapping and singing along in no time.  Led by Jordan Kaye on guitar, the band also features Josh Houchin on bass, Dave Madden on percussion, and Tex Wynn on dobro.
