Grass Roots Revival (GRR) plays traditional bluegrass and Americana music with a vengeance. GRR’s specialty is close harmonies and the high-lonesome sound that bluegrass is known for. All three members of GRR were born and bred in the cornfield-flatlands of Illiana–Jamie Lou Carras in Urbana, Michael Jones in Homer, and Jim Hand in Tolono.Michael plays not only Scruggs-style banjo and flat-pick guitar, he also sings and yodels with a powerful voice that is purely self-taught. Jamie Lou virtually glows playing the “down-home” music she loves. The autoharp–a fairly recent discovery for her–fits in well with her love of this old-time country sound. She just can’t help it when her knee starts jumping up & down to the music. Jim has explored nearly all of the common bluegrass instruments and for now “holds down the fort” in GRR with his strong and solid dog-house bass playing.
Grass Roots Revival is sure to catch your attention and take you back in time where music was more a part of everyday life and songs were sung with heart and soul!
