Percussionist Tim Mulvenna of the Allos Musica Ensemble will lead a workshop and demonstration on the Irish frame drum, the Bodhrán. A history of the instrument and its place in traditional and contemporary Celtic music will be discussed, followed by a demonstration of the Bodhrán’s many playing styles and techniques. No experience with the instrument is required though players with experience in traditional Irish music are encouraged to bring their instruments.
