“The dance floor will be open.”
After a long layoff, the Backdoor Cajun Band will be gathering to play
some music this coming Sunday, June 9 at The Iron Post in downtown Urbana.
We’ll start at about 7:00PM and play two sets of traditional Cajun and
Creole music – waltzes, two-steps, and some get-down zydeco.
This band plays occasionally (or Aux-Cajun-ally) but we always have fun
when we get together. This will be Matt Turino on fiddle, Randy Cordle
on bass and mandolin, Sam Payne on guitar, Rob Krumm on accordion and
Dave Pride on percussion.
Join the Backdoor Cajun Band for an evening of traditional Cajun music including graceful waltzes, lively two-steps and get-down Zydeco. This local band features:
- Matt Turino on fiddle
- Randy Cordle on bass
- Rob Krumm on accordion
- Sam Payne on guitar
- Dave Pride on percussion
Come on out, dance, and pass a good time.
Dennis Stroughmatt and Friends
Dear friends and music lovers,
I’ll be playing Cajun music & more with my musical compadre Dennis Stroughmatt, this Saturday Sept. 21. This will be an early show at the Iron Post, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. This will be a “full band” gig at the Iron Post, so come on out for two sets of Cajun, Creole, Zydeco, blues, trad country and more. I’ve played a good handful of gigs with Dennis in recent months, and all of them have been a lot of fun.
If you’ve never seen and heard Dennis before, then you’re in for a treat. Besides being a terrific fiddle player (and solid on accordion as well), Dennis has a really strong singing voice. His knowledge of music is deep, and he usually hits on a fair number of music genres during each show (Cajun, Creole, blues, etc.). Come out if you can and I hope to see some of you there.
Sure to be a foot stompin’ good time, the Cornstalker Cajun Band aims to make you dance. The Cornstalkers are Matt Turino on fiddle, Tom Turino on accordion, Shannon Arnold on guitar, and JB Faires on bass. Some members of the band have been playing Cajun and zydeco music from southwest Louisiana together for some twenty years.
