Folk Jam Circle is a participation-based, community-education focused musical project for people of all ages and stages of music experience. Co-sponsored by CU Folk & Roots and the Channing Murray Foundation, Folk Jam Circle will take place on Saturdays at the Channing Murray Foundation sanctuary from 7-10pm. Come with a folk song for the circle to learn (guidelines for song-presenting are outlined below), and be ready for a fun and comfortable time exploring sound and relationship to song in a group setting. Instruments of all kinds are welcome!
Song-sharing guidelines are as follows:
- respectfully share your understanding of the cultural context of the song
- share song origin and historical background
- (optional) share your relationship with the song
To ensure COVID-safety in an unmasked, group-singing, closely-seated environment, we are requiring proof of COVID-19 vaccination AND a negative COVID test within 72 hours of the event. Proof of vaccination and a negative test result will be asked for at the door and are required for entry :-)
To be added to the Folk Jam Circle GroupMe group chat, voice questions or concerns, or RSVP, contact project organizers Ayla McDonald (firstname.lastname@example.org) and Sophie Kish.
