Calling all instrumentalists and singers! Enjoy this rare opportunity to learn from Klezmer luminaries Deborah Strauss and Cantor Jeff Warschauer. No previous experience is necessary. Kids and adults from any background are welcome (no, you don’t have to be Jewish to sing, play, and love Jewish music!). Kids should be accompanied by a responsible adult.

You! We invite everyone to participate, regardless of vocal or instrumental level, previous experience, background or knowledge. Ages 0 to 120 are welcome. If you are someone who is shy about singing or playing, come anyway. We’ll make it work! And if you are a more advanced singer and instrumentalist, please see below.*

Sing and play klezmer music, Yiddish songs, and Hasidic tunes. It’s all great music and you will have a wonderful time in a warm and heymish (friendly and cozy) environment.

*Attention Experienced Singers and Instrumentalists of Any Style:
In addition to the jam session, the afternoon will include a workshop section for experienced musicians. This will be an opportunity to “dig deeper” into klezmer style, repertoire and rhythms at a more advanced level.

Free will donations greatly appreciated.

Many thanks to the Urbana Country DancersC-U Folk and Roots Festival, and the Community Center for the Arts for supporting this event. For further information about Jeff and Deborah’s activities in Champaign-Urbana, point your browser to
