The Central Illinois English Country Dancers will be holding a dance with live music provided by local musicians. Dancers of all ages are welcome. All dances will be taught. Partners, costumes and experience are not required, however we ask that soft-soled, non-marking, non-street shoes be worn so as not to damage the dance floor.
Dancing in the Garden
We will be meeting at the Mabery Gelvin Botanical Garden by the Museum of the Grand Prairie in Mahomet.

In case of rain or excessive heat we will dance in the education center in the museum.
An extra dance with music by special guest band Olde Music

The Young & the Fretless is playing at the Rose Bowl Tavern Patio in downtown Urbana on Saturday, May 1, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. This May Day musical performance is also a “Farewell to Hilary” show. Our warm-hearted singer, guitarist and dulcimer player is moving to Arkansas and we will miss her dearly. Please join us in this sendoff performance in which we will be playing our favorite old-time fiddle tunes and songs and, of course, featuring Hilary Valentine!

Gas Light Quartet plays popular music from the late 19th century and early 20th century!
Clarke Buehling – (banjo and Vocals) is known for his faithful renditions of early banjo tunes, many gleaned from his personal collection of sheet music published for the 5 string banjo more than 100 years ago. Clarke currently teaches banjo, fiddle, mandolin and guitar, he also performs with the Ozark Highballers,the First Line trad-jazz band and the Carousel Orchestra.
Paul and Christine Breen have played back up for Billy Mathews for
over 15 years, playing on stages as
Fiddlin Banjo Billy and The Old Time Players. Billy spent many hours mentoring this couple in the style of Old Time Music. Fiddlin Banjo Billy Mathews (fiddle and banjo-mandolin) has been playing and teaching a new generation the old time fiddle tunes he has learned and composed in his time traveling in the Mid-West and Upper South. Recently a collection of his 500 fiddle tunes project has been transcribed by Emily Elam and is now available as a book.
