English Country Dance is the dance form that was popular in England and America in the 1600’s, 1700’s and early 1800’s. It is one of the dance forms from which modern contra and square dance are descended. If you’ve seen any of the recent Jane Austen movies then you’ve seen this sort of dance. We also do some early American dances from the Colonial and Revolutionary War eras. Follow this link for more information.
A monthly jam session for people interested in old time fiddle music.
The Illinois Old Time Fiddlers Association is a non-for-profit organization. Formed in 1966, the association is dedicated to reviving and furthering old time fiddle music, to the preserving of the old time tunes and fiddling techniques, and to the passing on of this traditional form of entertainment to the younger generation. Anyone who agrees with the purposes of the association can become a member of this association.
The Old Time Fiddle Association also sponsors a yearly fiddle contest, which is scheduled for Sunday October 21st in 2012.
