Weekly Blues Lesson and Dance

On Monday evenings we gather for a lesson and dance at Guido’s Bar & Grill. The lesson and the dance are both FREE.

Beginner-Friendly Lesson: 6-7pm. Our friendly and experienced instructors Jennifer, Sierra, and Dave share the teaching role.

Blues Social Dance: 7-9pm

Open to all ages. No cover. Drinks and food available from our host venue, Guido’s Bar & Grill.

Beginners welcome. No partner required. Come dance with us!

Meets most Tuesdays, an informal gathering of musicians playing bluegrass style. Bring your fiddle, banjo, guitar, bass, dulcimer, mandolin, uke, and come share a tune, or learn a new one.

Located in the Lincoln Square Mall in the southwest corridor, near the former location of Art Mart. Lincoln Square Mall is located in downtown Urbana, IL between Race and Vine on Broadway.

PLEASE NOTE: this is a house concert and potluck. Seating is very limited. Reservations are strongly encouraged. Concert details and location will be sent to reservation holders a few days before the show.

Dylan Foley, A 4-time All-Ireland Fiddle Champion, was a student of the great Rose Flanagan (the original fiddler in Cherish the Ladies) and counts Joanie Madden, Brian Conway, Mike McHale, and Monsignor Charlie Coen among his primary influences. He is a vibrant stylist whose playing has been called “impeccable and spirited.”

Dylan has performed at Lincoln Center, Joanie Madden’s Folk N’ Irish Cruise, Austin Celtic Festival, at Gracie Mansion for NYC Mayor Bloomberg, on Jay Unger’s Dancing On the Air show on WAMC, also Foley has been featured on Irish Television channels RTE and TG4’s fleadh programme. At age 12, Dylan made an appearance on the HBO special “The Music In Me”. With the the help of Irish Aid, In January 2013, Foley traveled with Dr. Mick Moloney (NYU Ethnomusicologist and Folklorist) to Vietnam in order to bring Irish music, song, dance and culture to those who were effected by Agent Orange and other Vietnam War atrocities. Dylan also performed with Mick Moloney, Joanie Madden, Bobby Hicks, Matt Molloy and Sharon Shannon.

Join us for a UFLive! concert!

Papashoy plays old-time klezmer music in the style of the village bands of Yiddish Eastern Europe’s own corn country. Bring your dancing shoes for our assortment of lively tunes, and your hankies for some sweet, sad melodies. Surprises at every turn. Members are Frances Harris and Amanda Ramey (fiddles), Rob Sweedler (accordion), Rob Krumm (guitar), Charlie Harris (bass), and Cody Jensen (mandolin, xylophone).
