Fiddler and singer Dennis Stroughmatt brings his acoustic band L’Esprit Creole to The Iron Post in downtown Urbana for an evening of traditional French fiddle tunes and ballads, Cajun and Creole music and a lot more. From Albion, Ill., Dennis is well-known for his work with Creole Stomp as well as with many of the area’s best country musicians. He’s performed at the Philo Opry, the Bement Country Opry and at the Melvin Music Shows. He’s played several times with different bands at Fast Lanes in Hoopeston. Besides a healthy dose of French music, the band will be playing some traditional country, western swing and blues. Joining Dennis will be bassist Greg Bigler (Savoy), guitarist and fiddler Doug Hawf (Allendale, Ill.) and guitarist and accordion player Rob Krumm (Urbana).
