Clinton Da vis is an old time folk musician currently based in San Diego \, California. A fifth-generation Kentuckian\, Davis grew up in rural Carr oll County. His repertoire spans fiddle and banjo music native to his fami ly home\, the exuberant ragtime piano and guitar of early 20th-century New Orleans\, and ballad songs and dance music of the Southwest.

The band—whose name plays on the plural form of the Yiddish a pprobation “mentsh\,” meaning a person of integrity—is the brainchild of B rooklyn clarinet virtuoso Michael Winograd. A graduate of the New England Conservatory\, Winograd has become a leader in the modern renaissance of k lezmer\, a musical style he has played since childhood. One of today’s pre mier klezmer clarinetists\, Winograd works at the forefront of cultural pr eservation\, having co-founded Yiddish New York in 2015\, and serving as t he artistic director of KlezKanada\, one of the world’s largest hubs for K lezmer and Yiddish education and cultural transmission.
