The Oc casional Cajun Band plays a mix of traditional Cajun and Creole m usic. The band performs music found in the dance halls (and at the festiva ls) in southwest Louisiana including lively two-steps\, soulful waltzes an d get-down Zydeco. Musical influences include the Balfa Brothers\, Amédé A rdoin\, Bois Sec Ardoin\, (and many members of the Ardoin family)\, Canray Fontenot\, Preston Frank\, Al Berard\, and Steve Riley and the Mamou Play boys. The music is for celebrating\, dancing and having fun. Band members Matt Turino (fiddle) and Rob Krumm (acco rdion) played locally in the Noisy Gators (2001-2004) and also toured nationally with Creole Stomp. Dennis Stroughmatt is a national touring art ist who fronts both Creole Stomp and L’Esprit Creole from Albion\, IL. Den nis is a talented fiddler\, vocalist and accordion player\, and he speaks French fluently. In 2002\, he formed Creole Stomp\, a band that continues to perform Cajun\, Creole and Zydeco music from coast to coast. For this s how\, expect a strong mix of traditional Cajun and Creole music including lively two steps\, graceful waltzes and toe-tapping Zydeco. You’ll want to dance. Wear your beads!
